LCS Rehearsal Notes 9/23/2024

LCS - Sept 23


Kara Stacy Bedwell explained her piece to us and how she wrote it. We listened to a recording of the piece and then began to workshop the piece below.


Persephone Gone
  • Listened to a recording of song
  • Has a driving tempo - constant motion/storytelling

  • Sight read through entire piece

Choral society members had the opportunity to sight sing and work with composer Kara Stacy Bedwell on the piece Persephone Gone, a piece commissioned by the Choral Society for our Winter 2024 concert on 12/8.

  • Sang through entire song on a “Da”
  • Worked parts m1 - m16
  • Write in your starting note
Sop1 - Do A1 - Fa T1 - Ti Bari - Mi
Sop2 - La A2 - Re T2 - Sol Bass - Do
  • Write in the solfège on the whole piece
  • When Do is raised with the up arrow it becomes Di (means it is raised a half step)
Do - Di
Mi - Mi
Fa - Fi
Sol - Si
La - Li
Ti - Ti


We will learn parts completely before we learn the German


The Seal Lullaby
  • Sight read through entire piece
  • Build between the rhythm/dissonance
  • Sing with “loo” on “ooo” while we are learning piece

Floyd Love of Broadway Singers needs 4 sopranos and Altos (2 of each) to play the Fontaine Sisters in a tribute show he's doing at the end of November.
Positions will have compensation.
