Dear LCS singers,
Many, many congratulations on your splendid performance Sunday!! It was the sort of success that we'd hoped for: Great sound, wonderful audience response, much fun.... I'm certain that we made a strong and positive impression on an audience that had never before been aware of the fine work you do. I've heard excellent feedback about the event and I hope you have also. I believe that we'll have access to both audio and video recordings of the concert soon, but in the meantime here are two smashing excerpts that are now posted in YouTube. [I also believe that Joan Fitzgerald has posted some to our LCS FaceBook page.] I first listened to the Battle Hymn with my tablet and earbuds and thought it was exciting. Wow! Battle Hymn: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JfrRRPNeiuM God Bless America: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKTVg9fHOW0 [ The videos can also be found in the Photos drop-down under the Concerts tab] Also thanks for your commitment to our Monday rehearsal (after a long Sunday and rotten weather on Monday). We were all a little tired but we accomplished much. The practice probably reminded ourselves how easily things can get rusty when we're concentrating on Richard Rodgers for a couple of weeks. Please note that only three rehearsals remain before our Dec. concert. We're in excellent shape on most of the notes, so we'll try to zero in on the places where trouble still remains. We examined the Burt Carols on Monday and it appears that the "Star Carol" is the best choice to add to our list. It's a truly lovely piece, but also trickier than it looks. Please check intervals before Monday. To do list: Poulenc pitches Notes in two new pieces: Rutter, Joy to the World; Burt, Star Carol Thanks for being a fine chorus! Larry
